Reading & enjoying

I have always been a big reader. Love the way books transport me to other worlds, places and into other's hearts and minds. There's many a sleepless night when a great book has been my companion, helping me to switch off and eventually drift off....

Some titles that have moved me lately...

Islands in the clouds: travels in the highlands of New Guinea
by Isabella Tree

Letters from Burma by Aung San Suu Kyi

Boy he cry: an island odyssey by Roger Averill (scroll down for title and check the other amazing sounding reads listed.)

Linda Roberston

Following a recent morning sojourn to have an amused perusal of the Bald Archies, I dropped into a local gallery on my way home. After viewing the current pieces on display, my heart leapt when I spied this tucked away in a corner. Entitled Dancer 2, it is one in a series of three by Melbourne artist Linda Roberts.

I just LOVE the movement and energy in this image, not to mention the ochre and brown tones - in person these are much more vibrant and clear.

I like to think that if we hadn't unexpectedly replaced our hot water system the previous day, this lovely lady might have been mine :-)

Swoon

Just.got.to.post.these.pics! It's love...well, certainly my pulse quickened when I spied the gorgeousness of some of the elements in this house on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria.

Inky walls. Check. Tactile, natural, sculptural wall art. Check.
Rustic furniture paired with smooth, clean lines. Check. A restful outdoor spot in which to soak up nature. Check. INCREDIBLE chandelier in the kitchen. CHECK. Definitely the swoon factor for me!

Lamp love

Am loving this metal lamp base - okay, yes..and the side tables and the Albrecht Durer image enlarged onto a linen wallhanging in the background! - from the home of Lauren Liess at Pure Style Home.

I first saw the photo below on the Skirted Round Table and got a little curious about Pure Style Home. Love the enthusiastic, practical, welcoming "voice" of the blog and appreciate the real, approachable and fun way Lauren communicates her loves, ideas and thoughts.
