Food for thought

Shannon Fricke's post today includes a quote from one of her own books. Does it speak to you also?

Vincent Wolf

New-to-me and oh-so-glorious is the work of Vincente Wolf, photographer and interior designer. His fascinating interview at the The Skirted Roundtable is well worth a listen.
I very much like the range of textures in this image - chair, floor, fluffy towels, the copper bath, pewter-look vase. I think the contrast of the black in the table and exposed lightbulb adds a modern element that creates a sophisticated rustic feel.

Mmmm, I'd love to read a book and drink tea in this lounge space. I like the artwork on the ledge, particularly the mix of frames and the inviting sofas; the distressed/worn wooden table and cane side-table (an upside-down wastepaper basket?) are very appealing. Strangely, I love the sunflowers here, even though I'm not usually a fan of them. It must be the exuberant burst of colour against the muted and calm backdrop. They add life and an element of surprise, don't you think?

More of his work that I like...

Hmmm, I think there's a frame theme going on!

Courage & beauty

Dear Nie Nie,

You are courageous and you are beautiful. I admire how your heart speaks love, the way you treasure the small things and your cultivation of thankfulness and hope.

You are an inspiration.

Im xx

Ebony & Twist

The Black and Spiro website is up and running! After listening to Anna Spiro on the Skirted Round Table, and hearing the same enthusiasm and determination in her voice that comes across in her blog, it is lovely to see the site come to fruition. A clever play on words naming the online shop Ebony & Twist.

Making me smile...

Flowers always make me smile, especially when it's a little dreary outside. Even more so when they're from my own garden, as these camelias are.

In the Loop

Nearly a year and a half ago, when the Aussie dollar was faring very well against a slumped US dollar, I purchased these notecards from Loop. There's something about Elissa Barbieri's painting series that reminds me of Australian eucalypts. I love her passion, her story and enjoy reading her blog.

Looking for lovely things

"Look for a lovely thing and you will find it." (Sarah Teasdale). This statement, sitting quietly in my journal for some time, has come to mind recently; it's now become my starting point for this blog...
